چکیده

In secure multicast applications, key management must be employed to provide access control to the multicast content. In wireless networks, where the error rate is high and the bandwidth is limited, the design of key management schemes should place emphasis on reducing the communication burden associated with key updating and improving the reliability of key distribution. The topology-matching key management (TMKM) scheme has been proposed to reduce the communication burden associated with rekeying by matching the key tree to the network topology and localizing the transmission of rekeying messages. This scheme, however, is only suitable for homogeneous networks where mobiles users are uniformly distributed in the service area and experience similar delay and transmission error rates. In this paper, we present an improved topology-aware key management scheme that is suitable for a large-scale cellular wireless network where the heterogeneity of the network is taken into consideration. The proposed scheme not only reduces the communication overhead, but also improves the reliability of the key distribution.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are consist of independent distributed sensors with storing, processing, sensing and communication capabilities to monitor physical or environmental conditions. There are number of challenges in WSNs because of limitation of battery power, communications, computation and storage space. In the recent years, computational intelligence approaches such as evolutionar...

Interference-Aware and Cluster Based Multicast Routing in Multi-Radio Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks

Multicast routing is one of the most important services in Multi Radio Multi Channel (MRMC) Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN). Multicast routing performance in WMNs could be improved by choosing the best routes and the routes that have minimum interference to reach multicast receivers. In this paper we want to address the multicast routing problem for a given channel assignment in WMNs. The channels...

An efficient key management scheme for secure wireless multicast

In the future, many multicast services will take place in the wireless domain. However, before these services can successfully be deployed, security infrastructures must be developed that manage the keys needed to provide access control to content. In this paper, we present a method for designing multicast key management trees that are suitable for mobile wireless environments. By matching the ...

Topological Key Hierarchy for Energy-Efficient Group Key Management in Wireless Sensor Networks

A sensor network operating in open environments requires a network-wide group key for confidentiality of exchanged messages between sensor nodes. When a node behaves abnormally due to its malfunction or a compromise attack by adversaries, the central sink node should update the group key of other nodes. The major concern of this group key update procedure will be the multi-hop communication ove...

Group Keys and the Multicast Security in Ad Hoc Networks

Mobile ad-hoc networking (MANET) is a collection of mobile nodes that want to communicate to each others, but has no fixed links like wireless infrastructure networks. Each node acts as a router and is responsible for dynamically discovering other nodes it can directly communicate with. Due to the network topology of an ad hoc network changes frequently and unpredictable, so the security of mul...
